Predators down Bruins 3-2
The Bruins went a span of 34:09 from the first to third periods between even-strength shots on goal.Gustavsson came up big earlier in the third period, stopping left winger Colin Wilson on a 2-on-1 and then, after the Bruins (14-9-3) killed their second penalty of the period, stopping right winger James Neal from directly in front.
A nifty Viktor Arvidsson goal that was a nice display of speed and skill put the Predators up for good in a 3-2 loss for the Bruins at TD Garden.
Weber began last week by notching a trio of assists in the Predators 5-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday, the sixth time in the d-man’s career that he has registered three apples in a single contest.
Kevan Miller and Loui Eriksson scored for Boston. Miller gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead 4:13 into the game when he walked in from the right point and took a wrist shot that deflected off the skate of Nashville center Colton Sissons and up and over the shoulder of Hutton.
The Bruins very clearly didn’t have their best skating legs in their first game back from the Western Canada trip, and it showed in the game’s final outcome.
The Predators did capitalize on a power play of their own less than a minute later to tie the game, so the lead was short lived for the Bruins.
Marchand’s bout ended up being the precursor for the main event, as Bruins bruiser Tyler Randell laid the smackdown on Nashville’s Eric Nystrom just two minutes later. The Preds continue to thrive from their defense and goaltending but their offense has run dry this season after seemingly finding their groove last year and while we still have more than half of the year left it is a cause for concern for the Preds especially when they face off against teams that also have strong back ends.
