Pregnant woman killed, man wounded in South Side shooting

19-year-old Parasha Beard, was shot to death in a drive by shooting last night in South Chicago near 87th and Marquette. Beard was sitting in a auto parked in the 8700-block of South Marquette Avenue around 6 p.m. when police said another vehicle pulled up alongside her and someone inside opened fire.

Law enforcement sources said she was about eight months pregnant, and the baby was delivered.

Police said the man has documented gang ties.

Beard also leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter. Police say she was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

A 19-year-old pregnant woman was killed and a 26-year-old man was wounded in a South Chicago attack Sunday evening, according to police.

Family members told NBC 5 that the baby girl, who they are calling a miracle, is in critical condition but they are just grateful for her survival. She always got her goals set for herself.

Police said Beard and the baby’s father were sitting in this auto parked on S. Marquette Ave.at the time of the 6:10 p.m. shooting on Sunday night. “She was a attractive girl, just like everybody else’s kids”, said Crystal Jones, the victim’s mother. Police say they have only a vague description of the gunman.
