‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ zooms past Rs.100 crore in 3 days

“Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”, also starring Sonam Kapoor and directed by Sooraj Barjatya, has earned nearly Rs. 130 crore in the opening weekend.
The supporting cast includes Tanu Weds Manu fame Deepak Dobriyal who plays the role of Prem’s (Salman Khan) seems to be wasted.

In the domestic market, the film earned Rs 191 crore and collected Rs 59 crore in the global market, closing to Rs 250 crores in five days. But as a last resolve to save the utterly dated and parochial storyline of the film, Salman Khan decides that it is now time to involve the family!
Director Sooraj R. Barjatya pens the story and screenplay of the film also featuring Neil Nitin Mukesh and Anupam Kher. In fact, not only has the film been a clean superhit at the box 0ffice, but it’s been a surprise one at that as most expected it to do around 40-45 crore, maximum. Even overhyped, big-budget films-such as Bombay Velvet, Roy, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy, Shaandaar, Phantom, among others-have performed poorly at the box office. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has got a “solid” start but its upcoming collections will determine where the film is heading. Sooraj and Salman’s careers have been interlinked, and they’ve grown in stature over the years, but working stills from the sets show the two as happy as teenagers. So if you go by that, Salman has thumped Shah Rukh this time! That is also the fastest film to touch the coveted century mark. Everybody has been saying that the film is a blockbuster, it is the biggest hit, the fastest hundred…and I’m like – ‘What does that mean?’ All I can see is that my social media is going mental.
