President Buhari Almost Mobbed at Abuja Praying Ground
“Nigerians must be willing to defend the change they voted for by continuing to support the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, through patience, perseverance and prayers, because it is a stark reality that the new government is facing daunting challenges in all sectors”.
The President captured how his security was overwhelmed at the prayer ground by a large crowd of youths who surrounded him struggling to see him.
The President thanked the delegation for sincerely fulfilling the traditional homage and for their loyalty to the country, describing the visit as a rare privilege.
The president admitted that the heavy security around him is not capable of protecting him, adding that only God can protect him from being harmed.
“The adverse effects of years of rot, corruption, inept and bad governance on our nation are enormous, but certainly not insurmountable if we all resolve now to place the well-being of our nation above all other considerations and work whole-heartedly with the present administration to achieve greater peace and security across the nation, and reposition our country for faster economic development and progress”, he said.
“I had to hold tight to my gown to get to my vehicle”.
“I was advised to enter the auto from the ADC side and I refused”.
“I went across trying to hold my hand to the wild youth who wanted to see me”.
“So, all the policemen that were deployed and soldiers since 6 o’clock in the morning, before I came out two hours later in the rains, can not protect you; only God protects”.
“This shows that, it is only God that protects leaders”.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who also joined the delegation, commended the President for providing an enabling environment for people of different faiths to co-exist in the country.
Osinbajo said this was in fulfilment of President Buhari’s electoral promise that no religion would be given undue advantage over others in his administration. “And never before has our nation been put in a situation where it virtually had to start rebuilding from the scratch after nearly all sectors have become almost comatose”. “Even our children and grandchildren will enjoy the good of the land”, he said.
