President Obama Appears On Jerry Seinfeld’s ‘Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee
As soon as he sees the 1963 Corvette, Obama says: ‘This is a sweet auto right here, ‘ which Seinfeld jokes is from an age when America just did stuff, like putting people on the moon.
“The coolest vehicle for the coolest person to hold this office”, as Seinfeld put it.
In the latest in a long line of quirky appearances created to reach a somewhat hipper audience, the U.S. president features in the opening show of the seventh season of Seinfeld s popular web series, which was posted late Wednesday.
Asked about how children react to him, Obama quips: “I do really well with the 0-8 demographic, they love me”.
He continued, “That moment where you lost your anonymity, and anonymity is not something you think about as being valuable”.
Still, Seinfeld was able to sneak into an official (but stationary) Presidential limousine before he and the POTUS retired to a small in-house cafe for freshly brewed mud and chit chat.
After checking out Obama’s official mode of transportation, “The Beast”, which the president described as “a Caddy, basically on a tank frame”, the two men headed to a White House downstairs cafeteria for some coffee and conversation. In fact, he might be the guy who would be the most fun to hang out with.
First off, there isn’t really much driving at all: Seinfeld and the President never leave the driveway of the White House, for obvious security reasons. Seinfeld asked Obama at one point.
“I always wanted to be in a show about nothing and here I am”, Obama tells Seinfeld, referencing the comedian’s smash NBC hit sitcom.
“Teddy Roosevelt would go up to Yellowstone Park for, like, a month”, Obama said.
Since taking the leader of the free world away from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is harder than they hoped for, the pair headed down to the White House’s kitchen for a cup of coffee, brewed by Seinfeld. Sounds pretty good to me.”That’s a lot of messages when you get back”, Seinfeld responded”.
“A pretty sizable percent”, he said.
