President Obama Gets Emotional as He Reveals Gun Control Executive Order
The president’s speech outlined a number of executive actions he plans to put forth to curb gun violence and loopholes that allow criminals to obtain firearms. These actions will help make our country safer without infringing on the rights of law-abiding owners of firearms.
“The President should focus on dealing with the real causes of crime at home and terrorism around the world rather than look for excuses to push his political agenda”, Thornberry said in his statement.
OR has some of the strictest background checks of any state, said Eric Priller owner of Trigger Happy Guns in Bend, so he believes things won’t be changing much.
In front of dozens of people who have survived and lost loves ones to gun violence, Obama unveiled several executive actions to tighten how guns are bought and sold in the U-S. The president said that mass shootings such as the massacre in Newtown, Conn.at the Sandy Hook Elementary school and daily shootings in Chicago, need to be prevented immediately.
He said he is not sure how Obama’s plan will affect the Fort Smith Gun and Knife Show. “What I want to see in Colorado is that families can have a gun removed from someone’s hand who is acting in a unsafe way or having mental illness, anger management issues”.
Wayne LaPierre, executive vice president and CEO of the National Rifle Association, says in a video that without the NRA there would be no federal instant checks and that expanding a broken system won’t fix the problem.
“If you buy a gun from a dealer at a gun show, you’re getting a background check just like if you bought it at a storefront dealer anywhere else”, he said. “He knows full well that the law already says that people who make their living selling firearms must be licensed, regardless of venue”, the Speaker said.
Obama gets to fool his liberal base into thinking he’s “doing something” on gun control, which remains politically unpopular.
“When you live by the pen, you die by the pen and my pen has got an eraser”, he said. Quicker background checks take away no one’s rights.
