President Obama Honors Veterans at Arlington National Cemetery

– President Barack Obama urged the nation to keep veterans in their thoughts long after Veterans Day and ensure that they receive the care and benefits they’ve earned.
The report included a web of complications with the VA’s management of health care enrollment data, including a lack of procedures to oversee records, software glitches within the records system and inconsistency in identifying veterans who have died. Currently, such schools can get 90 percent of their revenue from federal sources and advocates for the rule change say it will discourage the for-profit colleges from aggressively targeting veterans for recruitment. “That is our obligation, and we are not going to let up”.
Hmong American Board President Kham Yang says Hmong veterans were known as the secret soldiers because few knew what they did for the United States during the Vietnam War. Armistice Day became Veterans Day in the 1950s and now commemorates the spirit of all US military members.
Obama enlisted employers to help the cause by seeking out skilled veterans for jobs in the private sector.
But the president admitted there are still challenges following the 2014 scandal involving extended wait times and lack of access to healthcare at Veteran’s Affairs facilities across the country.
But this is not enough for the U.S. President, who stressed that more can be done by the country to help veterans. And today, the veterans’ unemployment rate is down to 3.9 percent – even lower than the national average. “America’s Parade” featured more than 20,000 participants, including marching bands, floats, veterans and military units. “They get stuff done”.

Obama also touted how veterans are using education benefits to expand their employment opportunities, noting that more than 1.5 million veterans and their families are using the post-9/11 GI Bill for education.
