President’s daughter Sharmistha Mukherjee names and shames ‘pervert’ on Facebook

The alleged user, Partha Mandal, who hails from Naihati, West Bengalhas in series of messages asked obscene questions toMukherjee. She said that instead of simply blocking and reporting him she wanted to expose people like Mandal so that other women don’t become his target.

“This pervert Partha Mandal is sending me dirty sexual messages”.

“First I thought of blocking or ignoring him”.

In her Facebook post, she said that she chose to speak up as “the silence wud encourage him to find other victims”. “Then I thought why should I feel ashamed of sharing such posts because I am not guilty”, she said.

She posted the screenshot of his facebook profile along with the messages he sent to her. I’m also tagging him.

Ms Mukherjee claimed that the person harassing her was completely unknown to her.

Speaking to ANI, Mukherjee said that the police should look into the matter not because she is the daughter of President Pranab Mukherjee, but as an individual woman. I will fight as an ordinary woman and do not require any preferential treatment as a daughter of the President of India.

In her complaint to the Cyber Cell of Delhi Police, Mukherjee said the messages sent to her were “totally distasteful and vulgar, posted with an intention of being extremely foul and intimidatory and were highly offensive in nature”.

She will file a police complaint as a common citizen.
