President Trump Tweets Criticism Directed at Mitch McConnell & Paul Ryan
During the call, which Mr. Trump initiated on August 9 from his New Jersey golf club, the president accused Mr. McConnell of bungling the health care issue.
A GOP Senate aide said bluntly that Trump’s slams against Republican members of Congress only make the task of advancing the party’s agenda more hard.
So, both under the law and outside its provisions, the Obama White House began funneling billions of dollars a year to the companies.
That’s not exactly a ringing endorsement pf the president, though. Trump’s behavior, from a purely pragmatic political view, can best be described as lazy, bullying and ultimately self-defeating. Such a song of unity was supposed to comfort nervous members of the GOP-led Senate. Here are 10 reasons. Urging McConnell to get rid of the Senate filibuster – an old rule, not required by the Constitution – is bringing unpleasant heat to the problematic Senate rule.
Trump also told reporters that week that he was “very disappointed in Mitch”. “One way or the other, we’re going to get that wall”.
Trump keeps pushing it anyway. John McCain, R-Ariz., who cast the decisive vote in the Senate.
So, wait. Does the president like this bill or hate it?
Instead of hammering that message, the president used his bully pulpit to criticize Republicans for failing to pass a long-promised health care bill to dismantle the Affordable Care Act.
The message from McConnell was clear Thursday morning: when it comes to reports of tensions between he and Trump, there’s nothing to see here.
Politically, it’s a smart move for McConnell who will have to rely on Trump loyalists in Kentucky if he runs for re-election in 2020.
Surprising nearly no one, President Donald Trump logged onto Twitter this morning and started venting. Kelli Ward. He’s mused about spending $10 million of his own money to unseat Flake.
But Fitch Ratings took a tougher stand, warning that even a debt-ceiling standoff, short of a bond default, could cause it to reassess the credit rating of U.S. Treasury debt. Only 32 percent of GOP respondents have a favorable view of McConnell. “You’ve heard that out of the President’s mouth”. But it’s not just about health care, though that’s certainly the most visible and public fight and failure. A pro-Trump group launched TV and radio ads attacking Heller for it: “Call Sen”.
Republicans in the Senate had failed to pass a plan last month to repeal and replace Obamacare. “Will he show you his handsome letter to me?”
“Our new president, of course, has not been in this line of work before. I’ll make a prediction: I think he’s going to be just fine”.
“If we have to close down our government, we’re building that wall”, Trump said during a campaign rally in Phoenix on Tuesday. “Must Repeal & Replace ObamaCare!” “That should NEVER have happened!” Sources told CNN’s Manu Raju that Trump also vented about a bill that limited his ability to ease sanctions against Russian Federation on his own.
And then there was his horribly offensive tirade on the white supremacist riot in Charlottesville, Virginia. And I think McConnell, fairly or not, is also bearing the brunt of discontent among some Republican voters that the Russiagate probe continues to drag on.
