Presidential Race Polls: Ben Carson Would Tie with Hillary Clinton in
Dr. Carson is virtually tied with Donald Trump as strong front-runners for the Republican nomination, and Carson is the only GOP candidate that tops former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton 50 – 40 percent in the final face-off.
In the latest poll, conducted following last week’s third GOP debate where Bush delivered a mediocre performance, only 4 percent of Republican and independent Republican-leaning voters said they would support Bush in their state’s primary. The rest are getting single-digit support percentages, with former Florida Governor Jeb Bush with only 4% support, Carly Fiorina, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and Ohio Governor John Kasich at 3% each.
In a Democratic poll, Hillary Clinton gets 53 percent of Democrats, with 35 percent for Sen.
As for Democrats in what has become a two-person race, Hilary Clinton remains the frontrunner ahead of Bernie Sanders.
Not all potential head-to-head matchups were polled and a few voters are still undecided or not firmly committed to their current candidate.
They also said Mr. Trump has the best chance of winning in the general election next November and that he is most likely to be an effective president.
For the Democrats, Clinton got 54 percent and Sanders 32 percent and no one else got more than 2 percent.
To date he is the only Republican who has shown an ability to muster enough support to knock Trump off is perch, or at least share the top spot. Clinton beats Trump but loses to Rubio and Cruz, all in close contests. Ted Cruz’s 13 percent.
In terms of favorability, Bush fares worse among Republican voters than any of his primary opponents, with a 47 percent unfavorable rating.
Conversely, Carson has a tremendous favorable rating, 49 percent to 25 percent, with a sizable 25 percent saying they haven’t heard enough about him to form an opinion.
Results for the likely Republican caucus-goers have a margin of error of plus or minus 4 points, while the results for the likely Democratic caucus-goers have a margin of error of plus or minus 4.5 points.
