Price Returns, But Red Sox Fall 5-4 to White Sox

Luckily, he had Marrero on his team. He was spotted a 4-0 lead but lasted five innings, allowing six runs (five earned) while striking out nine.

Dustin McGowan (2-0) replaced Nicolino and allowed one run in three innings.

Quintana (2-7) was hit hard for the second straight outing and lost his third straight decision.

Bauer (5-4) allowed three runs and seven hits with one walk.

One game isn’t going to make Marrero a more appealing in-house alternative to Sandoval. Even through all of that, Sale’s efforts were still not enough to get the White Sox into the postseason, and he is looking to get there for the first time this season with the Red Sox.
