Prime Minister to meet Sharif on July 10 in Ufa
Ufa: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the seventh BRICS summit in Ufa on Thursday, followed by participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
ISLAMABAD (AP) ” Pakistan’s foreign ministry says Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will meet with his Indian counterpart on the sidelines of a summit in Russian Federation.
During his two-day visit to Russia, Sharif was looking forward to holding meetings with the participating leaders, including the Russian, Chinese and Afghan presidents. Foreign secretary S Jaishankar said in a briefing after the 90-minute interaction between the two leaders that energy sector cooperation was a key area for rebooting the engagement, including nuclear engagement and hydrocarbons.
The Spokesperson said the meeting would have positive impact at bilateral, regional and worldwide levels.
The spokesman underscored that the Pakistani leader is committed to pursuit of cordial and cooperative ties with all neighbouring countries including India.
The release of 26/11 mastermind Zakiur-Rehman Lakhvi, despite India voicing concerns, also added to India’s concerns.
Both India and Pakistan are to be made permanent members of the SCO. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj at annual press conference clearly said Pakistan would have to speed up the trial of the culprits and put an end to violence before peace talks could be resumed.
Repeated ceasefire violations by Pakistan in a span of just two months since May 26, 2014 when Narendra Modi took office Pakistan had violated the ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir 19 times.
