Prince George bags £18000 birthday present
In a very sentimental move, Prince Charles has plans to have a tree house, originally built in his lavish garden for George’s father, Prince William, and his uncle, Prince Harry, when they children, restored to its former glory as a hide-out and den specifically for the young tot.
By the looks of it, Prince George is going to have a lot of fun in his new play area.
Charles has also refurbished the treehouse, (below) affectionately known as the stumpery, that was built and given to his son, Prince William, on his seventh birthday.
Prince George loves to have tea parties with his grandfather, using plastic cups, which will stand him in good stead for the Buckingham Palace garden parties he will be expected to attend when he grows up.
The Victorian-style outhouse, complete with wood-burning stove and day bed, was a first birthday gift from a Dorset-based company that began with the help of the Prince’s Trust.
The treehouse is situated in the gardens of the Prince Charles’ Gloucestershire residence, where he has put countless man-hours into making the grounds as picturesque as can be.
Charles regularly spends time with his grandchildren, despite reports in March that he had complained he never saw them and hopes time at Highgrove will be part of their childhood they will remember with joy. There are now 91 Coronation Meadows across the UK covering 395 acres, councils are planting wildflowers on roadside verges, and the charity Plantlife can not keep up with demand from people wanting to plant wildflower patches in their own gardens.
Together, the pair have planted two saplings in the gardens of Highgrove. Tickets are still available to visit the royal gardens for selected days until Friday October 16.
