Prince Harry surprises Duke of York’s Military School students
Prince Harry surprised military students when he turned up unannounced to present medals at their school.
Prince Harry and The Duke of Cambridge have proven that sibling rivalry still happens even when you’re in your thirties, and part of the Royal Family. “Oh my God”, said one teenage girl who hugged others as they jumped up and down.
Sean Dunoo, 11, was also on parade when the Prince walked past him.
The first clue students had as to the identity of the guest was when the band started playing the national anthem.
The Duke of York Military School is a state-run boarding academy which focuses on strong military beliefs and qualities such as self-discipline, respect and sportsmanship.
Prince Harry has arrived in Kent to meet hundreds of pupils at the Duke of York Royal Military School.
The 30-year-old, who left the forces in June after a decade-long military career, which included two tours of Afghanistan, explained that serving in the army gave him respite from the limelight.
He seemed to enjoy walking around the parade ground, stopping at intervals to chat to students and present the five medals. He added that the visit of Harry will be treasured by students lifelong. The royal replied: “The Army’s not for you? Let’s talk about it”.
