Principals talk about students charged in death
Nicole often cried at the thought of going to school, so Weeks said she often let Nicole stay home.
Video has surfaced of the two Virginia Tech students who were arrested in connection with the murder of 13-year-old Nicole Lovell.
David Eisenhauer, an 18-year-old engineering major, was charged on Saturday with murder and felony abduction, with police revealing that he and Lovell knew each other, according to CNN.
Eisenhauer appeared briefly in court, out of sight of reporters, ahead of the scheduled 10 a.m. hearing.
Eisenhauer was appointed lawyer Chris Tuck.
Keepers entered the court wearing an orange jumpsuit with handcuffs and shackles. She told Judge Robert Viar (VY’-ur) Jr. that she understood the charges against her and had retained counsel, attorney Kris Olin.
Nicole was 5 years old when she survived a liver transplant, MRSA (a drug-resistant bacterial infection) and lymphoma, her mother told The Washington Post (http://wapo.st/201JsDS).
At the time of her initial disappearance, the girl’s father had expressed hope that his daughter’s immediate whereabouts may be ascertained, whilst at the same time expressing concerns with his daughter’s health given the teen having a liver condition which necessitated her having to take daily medication. “She was telling me that girls were saying she was fat and talking about her scars from her transplant…It got so bad I wouldn’t send her”.
Keepers interned at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, led science experiments at her church’s Bible school and hoped to build a future in aerospace or ocean engineering, her online resume said. “That (expletive) took her life”.
Davy Draper, who said he’s a close family friend of the Lovells and knew the teen most of her life, called her an energetic and outspoken girl who got along with everyone.
Little did the volunteer drone operators know that two students from their own engineering department were allegedly involved in her murder. “She was an angel here on earth, and she’s an angel now”, Draper said.
Eisenhauer, a graduate of Wilde Lake High School who ran for the Virginia Tech cross country team, was being held without bond at the Montgomery County Jail. Neither had prior criminal records, police said.
On the Virginia Tech campus, state police divers searched a pond but authorities would not say what they were looking for.
He says, “We want the citizens of Blacksburg and the surrounding area to know that they will see an increase of heavy law enforcement presence in Blacksburg”. Her body was found in Surry County, North Carolina on Saturday. But Wilson didn’t discuss a motive or say how Nicole was killed.
The girl had been missing since last week. Her family said she apparently blocked her bedroom door with furniture and climbed out a window Wednesday night. He declined to comment further.
Eisenhauer was as a standout track and field athlete in high school, who was named Boys Indoor Track Performer of the Year by The Baltimore Sun in March.
The Sun reported that Eisenhauer had moved to Columbia from Yakima, Washington, for his junior year and quickly became a star on the East Coast. His coach told the paper that Eisenhauer was “the best-kept secret in Maryland”.
“He was an excellent student, very focused, very goal driven”, said James LeMon, the principal of Wilde Lake High School, which Eisenhauer attended in Maryland.
Eisenhauer’s parents could not be reached for comment.
