Professor estimates Flint has 8000-plus lead service pipes
The board approved the petition Monday from the Rev. David Bullock of Detroit.
Bullock, a Detroit activist, has 60 days to collect the 790,000 valid voter signatures required to put the recall question on the November general election ballot.
The petitions rejected Monday were filed by Flint activist Quincy Murphy and Highland Park activist Robert Davis, who recently completed a federal prison sentence for stealing from Highland Park Public Schools, where he was a board member.

Kaufman stresses that while the project is a full compilation of available data, the records – compiled from a 1984 survey – don’t always indicate the types of pipes used.
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder says 89 percent of water samples collected from key locations in Flint measured below the “action level” of 15 parts per billion for lead in an initial round of testing, but concerns remain. “It’s not time to draw conclusions”.
The data is being collected over a two-month period at the same sites every two weeks. As a result, officials believe lead leached from pipes, joints and fixtures into an unknown number of Flint households, causing a spike in the levels of toxic lead in the bloodstreams of Flint children.
