Professor Layton? No no, it’s Lady Layton now

Lady Layton: The Millionaire Ariadone’s Conspiracy has been announced as the latest entry in the Professor Layton series.

During its Level-5 Vision 2016, the studio revealed Lady Layton will star Professor Layton’s daughter, Catriel. The story is set in London, where she will solve any incident, from missing cats to murder cases. Her assistant is a talking dog named Sharo. This makes a western release a confusing prospect, since by the time a localization could be ready, the NX will be already be released and established. That might indicate how Lady Layton will be sold on mobile, though a standard “complete” release for 3DS seems likely.

Fans last saw Professor Layton in Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney back in 2014. You can watch the first trailer below.

Seeing as it’s already been confirmed that Professor Layton won’t be returning in this instalment as the main protagonist, we’ve all been waiting with baited breath to see who’ll next take the puzzle-solving crown.
