Project Morpheus release date, price: Sony says device’s market price won’t be
Project Morpheus remains on schedule, according to Sony, and while there is no specific release date or price available at this time, the hardware is expected to launch sometime before June 2016. While there’s still some time left to wait before consumers can get their hands on any of the big-name VR techs, there’s still an unrivaled amount of buzz surrounding the projects: between Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus, it seems like everyone’s excited about at least one of the headsets (if not both).
Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios, recently revealed that Sony won’t be producing or funding any first-party “non-gaming content” for Project Morpheus. This means you won’t need a beefy PC along with the headset.
“We are talking about launching next year so typically we don’t talk about pricing one year ahead of time”, he started off. “I think we announced the price of PS4 at E3 the year of the launch so that’s five months before the launch”.
“It’s not like we are waiting for Oculus to announce their price”, he added. He continues, “It’s not like we’re waiting for Oculus to announce their price”. “We just want to make sure that their content and other companies content works really really well on Morpheus”. The simplest thing that the developers implement may make you totally insane sick, like sudden camera movement, so even devs working for years on VR still have that.
It’s no secret that the Oculus side of VR is an investment with an estimated price of roughly ,500. A price point in the $200-$400 range sounds like a good bet for Oculus.
While many at E3 were distracted by the Final Fantasy VII Remake, a selection of Morpheus demos were also on show. The executive said that it’s super important Sony ensures Morpheus games won’t make people nauseous.
I could care less what people say, Im buying one at due date of release. Take my money NOW. Give me some pre-order form or something.
