Prosecutors want alcohol monitoring for Nuggets’ Ty Lawson
According to a report by Bleacher Report, Denver Nuggets would think about Ty Lawson’s fate as the player’s latest DUI arrest has lowered his market value. Lawson was available and the Pistons made a decision to draft Austin Daye. That’s not to say that he had a great situation in Denver (read: he did not) and I’m sure his team falling apart around him and the Nuggets drafting his replacement in Emmanuel Mudiay wasn’t easy for the veteran guard.
His stay will be for 30 days at a residential facility, and if Lawson decides to leave early, the judge has stated she will put out an arrest warrant.
It came as a surprise that the Cavs weren’t able to find a suitor a couple of weeks ago when teams were trying to shed salary at a rapid rate to create space for the top free agents. The 27-year-old North Carolina product was recently arrested for DUI for a second time in a six-month span and many believe he’s officially worn out his welcome in Denver as a result.
Lawson was charged with DUI on Monday night in California.
After his January arrest in Denver, Lawson was ordered not to drink alcohol and not violate any laws as part of his bond.
Lawson, of course, has been in the news lately for the wrong reasons. Lawson is young and expects to be on the floor. The team would have done better in the last National Basteball Association Playoffs had a point guard been present to ease things up a bit and it is no secret that the point guard position is a slot that the Rockets intend to address. Clarkson has shined so far this summer for the Lakers and could easily run the show for the second unit and allow Williams to be purely a scorer. The Lakers would have to send Roy Hibbert back in exchange to make the salaries match. Hibbert has only been able to star when he was featured in a slow-paced defense-first team.
Lawson will go to Cliffside Malibu, a luxury rehab center.
The Lakers could also use Lawson in an entirely different role. He is one of the fastest guards in the league, and does have the ability to knock down shots.
Lawson said in a video that he expected to be traded and it looks like he might have been right.
It’s unclear exactly what the teams interested in Lawson could offer in return. Lawson is used to having the ball in his hands a lot and that won’t happen with James Harden starting next to him.
