Prosecutors: Woman in Las Vegas crash had marijuana in her system
A woman who repeatedly rammed her auto into pedestrians in Las Vegas, killing one and injuring scores, has been tested positive for marijuana, officials said Wednesday.
The Clark County District Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday that toxicology test results showed Lakeisha Holloway, 24, tested positive for marijuana and marijuana metabolites.
The crash occurred at around 6:30 p.m., when police say Holloway drove into a crowd of people in a 1996 Oldsmobile along Las Vegas Boulevard near the Paris hotel and casino. “She intentionally drove into the crowd”.
Holloway’s 3-year old daughter was in the auto but did not suffer any injuries when her mom began hitting the pedestrians. Since she had her child in the auto at the time, it’s possible she could also be charged with child abuse as well as child neglect.
Days later at her first court hearing, attorneys for Holloway said she was “heartbroken” by what happened.
Holloway’s daughter was not injured and has been taken into protective custody.
Wolfson and DiGiacomo said they expect additional charges will be filed as police continue to interview witnesses in the case possibly including attempted murder and battery with the vehicle used as a deadly weapon.
She is due back in court for a status hearing on January 20. If you would like to discuss another topic, look for a relevant article.
