‘Prostitutes over patriots’: This is the most savage political attack ad you
“The choice for governor couldn’t be more clear”.
“David Vitter chose prostitutes over patriots”.
There are a lot of things you’d probably rather not have appear in campaign ads against you if you’re running for governor.
The Edwards ad seeks to contrast the Democratic state lawmaker’s military experience as an Army Ranger with Vitter and his scandal.
Is it true? Vitter won’t answer questions about his prostitution scandal and the media hasn’t been asking.
The hot take on the ad is that while John Bel Edwards was serving as a ranger in the 82nd Airborne, David Vitter was blowing off votes for soldiers in order to run after prostitutes.
The ad goes up on air Saturday. It honored soldiers killed by an Iraqi missile attack on February 25, 1991, during Operation Desert Storm.
“The buy for this ad will be significant enough to ensure that voters have the facts about David Vitter”, spokeswoman Mary-Patricia Wray said in an email to TPM.
A recent poll showed Edwards with a large lead in the race.
“John Bel Edwards is resorting to gutter personal attacks because he does not want anyone to know his liberal record – raising taxes, supporting Obamacare, opposing oil and gas industry, opposing school choice and on and on”, Bolar said.
