Protesters march to City Hall after precinct shooting
Grimm said protesters had been threatened by one group online and had been working with hackers to figure out the group’s plans. Sources said Nathan Gustavsson, 21, of Hermantown, and Daniel Macey, 26, of Pine City, were arrested after they turned themselves in.
The funeral procession, which had a police escort, began with cars officially part of the proceeding, including the hearse carrying Mr. Clark.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman announced Wednesday that the suspects will remain in Hennepin County Jail until at least Monday. The men will be held until Monday as prosecutors determine whether to file charges against them. Dozens to hundreds of people have been at the city’s 4th Precinct police station continuously in protest of the shooting. Three were transported to North Memorial Medical Center and two taken to HCMC.
Protesters said they were also marching in solidarity with five activists who were shot while protesting the Minneapolis incident.
The officers involved are Mark Ringgenberg and Dustin Schwarze, although police have not said who fired the fatal shot. However, activists claim Clark was lying handcuffed on the ground and was not resisting at the time of the shooting. Clark was using crutches and says he will keep pushing for justice for his cousin, Jamar.
Lingering in the crowd were four people who seemed out of place.
Cameron Clark was hit in the leg and foot in a shooting that injured five protesters Monday night.
March leaders led the way on the back of a red truck and shared words of encouragement from a bullhorn. They are still searching for the other two suspects.
Dayton said he did not know if he would attend the funeral.
Protesters have constantly occupied the 4th Precinct since soon after the shooting.
“We all were terrorized last night”, Brown added.
William Champion says he’s already pushed that shooting aside.
Protesters have rallied nightly outside the 4th Precinct police station near the scene of his death.
Mayor Betsy Hodges was not present at the funeral. “We can’t back down”. The agency, which is conducting a state investigation, said releasing the footage now would taint its probe.

Family members of 24-year-old Jamar Clark also asked for no protests on Wednesday as he is laid to rest.
Black Lives Matter’s Facebook page indicates protesters are concerned about food security after threats to put rat poison in donated food. But the shootings have prompted safety concerns. “I thought, ‘Surely, they are not shooting at us”‘. “Monday night’s shootings are not the fault of the victims or the Black Lives Matter movement, which is committed to non-violence”.
Bishop Richard Howell praised protesters for pressure that he said helped get a federal civil rights investigation started and the names of the involved officers released.
“We appreciate Black Lives Matter for holding it down and keeping the protests peaceful”.
Known as “Mearl” around North Minneapolis, Champion’s lived there 52 years.
“The safety of everyone at the Fourth Precinct must be our highest priority”, Ellison said.
He said it’s time for the protests to “evolve beyond the encampment”.
