Protests continue in Philadelphia, LA, more
Since Trump’s shock victory on Tuesday over Democrat Hillary Clinton, who had been widely tipped to win, thousands have protested in cities across the United States.
As darkness fell on Friday, thousands took to the streets of Miami, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York, San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, voicing anger at Trump’s inflammatory and often deeply controversial campaign rhetoric about immigrants, Muslims and women.
With many people off work for the weekend, the protests grew to what may have been the largest demonstrations against Trump so far.
Earlier Saturday, Portland police announced that two people were arrested in the shooting on Portland’s Morrison Bridge, which police said occurred at around 1 a.m. Saturday after a suspect in a vehicle on the bridge got into a confrontation with someone in the protest.
Outside the gleaming tower, demonstrators at one point booed at people standing on balconies.
“I’m afraid he will repeal marriage equality”, said Seedman.
The peaceful protesters Saturday waved signs with slogans like “Love Trumps Hate” and “Make Love, Not Trump”. He also said he may continue to ensure that young people can remain on their parents’ policies until the age of 26, a key Obamacare tenet.
Kellyanne Conway, Trump’s campaign manager, said on Fox News on Sunday that she was sure numerous protesters were paid professionals, though she offered no proof.
Saturday’s protests followed a news conference that afternoon in which Mayor Charlie Hales and Police Chief Mike Marshman urged people to restrain themselves.
“A lot of people didn’t want to see that – in fact, there were fights during the protest”, he says, between protesters who were trying to stop others from smashing auto windows and other items. Many carried cardboard signs – “Show the world what the popular vote looks like”, read one, “Putin Won”, said another.
Protesters flooded Manhattan’s Union Square Saturday in a fourth straight day of rallies against the election of Donald Trump.

The Saturday evening protest was much smaller than the demonstration with approximately 10,000 people earlier in the day, which converged on MacArthur Park at 10 a.m. and embarked on an nearly 4-mile walk downtown to the Edward Roybal Federal Building.
Dozens of people were arrested on Wednesday night, including at least 13 in Los Angeles and 15 in NY, according to media reports.
A man came out of his vehicle on the bridge, confronted and then shot a protester, police said in a statement, news agency AFP reported.
“We reject the president-elect!” the crowd chanted along Fifth Avenue. Thursday night, a small group broke away and smashed the windows of businesses and a number of vehicles at an auto dealership.
Trump said as much of Obama after their apparently harmonious meeting, saying he was open to seeking his “counsel”. They tried to walk onto a highway but were turned back by law enforcement officers who blocked their way. It wasn’t immediately clear whether they have lawyers.
Police said three separate marches were taking place throughout the city. No arrests were made.
