PS4 NewsWe’re Getting Destiny Sequels Every Other Year Through 2019?
This week, prior to the release of The Taken King, there will also be no weekly or daily activities. But Destiny wasn’t always like this.
It was an unexpected move that angered O’Donnell, prompting him to rebel against the company in an attempt to “preserve Bungie‘s creative process, artistic integrity, and reputation”. For the interested players who wish to get their hands on the game immediately, it will be officially be live at 2AM PDT, which is also 5AM EDT and 10AM UK Time.
Even though the mood of the trailer was set on the revamped narrative you can still see that the core point of playing Destiny is still to shoot aliens with your buddies. No concrete details are revealed, but it seems that the work was so extensive that it prompted the game’s launch to be pushed back to March 2014 and later to September.
Activision has yet to formally announce sequels to Destiny, but has confirmed a 10-year partnership with Bungie. So naturally O’Donnell spoke out about what had happened to the public.
Activision didn’t like this. Ryan ultimately recommended that O’Donnell be fired. The grounds for this decision wasn’t disclosed, but O’Donnell’s departure from Bungie has come as quite a shock to the entire fanbase. He argued that he couldn’t complete the audio work on Destiny (one of his other roles in addition to composing the soundtrack) until the game was bug free. Bungie is also planning to release “Destiny: The Taken King Legendary Edition” which includes the base game as well as all the three expansions.
Interestingly, lead writer Joseph Staten left Bungie in September 2013, around the time the legal document suggests the story changes took place.
In documents published by Venturebeat pertaining to the lawsuit between former long-time Bungie employee Marty O’Donnell and the studio over outstanding shares, it appears the mystery has been solved. After a brief vacation/sabbatical in early fall, O’Donnell returned, worked on the story and recorded dialogue, but no wrote no additional music. The third expansion pack is scheduled for release, this month. “Entire areas that would have been in the final game were removed”.
