Public donate £230000 in memory of Cecil the lion

“It is with huge disgust and sadness that we have just been informed that Jericho, Cecil’s brother has been killed at 4pm today”, the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force said in a statement (via the New York Daily News). “We have no further details but will advise as soon as we know more”.

There is an extradition treaty between Zimbabwe and the United States.

“Unfortunately it was too late to apprehend the foreign poacher as he had already absconded to his country of origin”, said Zimbabwe’s environment, water and climate minister Oppah Muchinguri, according to the AP.

The White House said it would review a public petition calling for him to be extradited after more than 100,000 people signed it.

It also emerged that Palmer was planning to shoot an elephant next.

Palmer has said he will cooperate with authorities. I caught him a few days after Cecil’s death. It now has nearly 1 MILLION signatures.

They were both killed by hunters.

Launched by global campaigning group Avaaz, there is also a protest planned for next week to deliver the protest to lawmakers in Washington.

The project will now study the effect of Cecil’s death on the surviving lions in his pride, including his cubs, which Prof Macdonald said could now be at risk.
