Puddle of Mudd singer Scantlin accused of DWI, fleeing
Scantlin faces a felony charge of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, and two gross misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence.
The officer says he then administered a preliminary breathalyzer test and Scantlin blew a.310 … a whopping FOUR TIMES the legal limit. Scantlin also refused to submit to further testing, and was charged for that also. According to official records, Wes Scantlin’s blood contained four times the legal amount of alcohol permissible while driving. He arrived at the hearing with an attorney from the Twin Cities and a bail bondsman.
The 43-year-old was caught early Sunday by a sheriff’s sergeant.
The singer has been arrested yet again after years of legal trouble.
The sergeant attempted to pull Scantlin over but he sped up and eventually pulled a U-turn in the middle of the road, racing past the squad vehicle and heading west on 212. Both vehicles accelerated to approximately 100 miles per hour before slowing down. He was identified as Wesley Scantlin.
After the officers were able to get Scantlin to the side of the road, they noticed that he was slurring his words and smelled heavily of alcohol.
He was taken into custody and placed in the Renville County Jail.
Scantlin’s attorney declined to address the allegations against the singer, who lives in the Los Angeles area and was performing over the weekend with the band at the Halfway Jam in Royalton, roughly 100 miles north from where he was stopped. Its website lists Puddle of Mud as among the Friday night performers.
Scantlin’s run-ins with the law have been several. The singer was arrested for drug possession in 2012 after cops discovered pills and some suspicious looking powder, TMZ reported.
