Pulwama encounter Story of a student who turned terrorist
A day after a terrorist attack in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir which led to the arrest of Pakistani terrorist Usman Khan, an encounter has begun between security forces and terrorists in Pulwama district of the state. He was involved in a number of militancy activities, including a firing incident at Pampore in which seven Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured. The encounter was on when the last reports came in.
Meanwhile, as the cordon-and-search operation was underway on Thursday evening, residents of the area started massive protests and pelted stones at the forces who retaliated by lobbing teargas and pepper gas shells. “The house of Ghulam Muhammd in which the two militants were present has been located in the middle of Army and CRPF camps and it was hard to believe that militant could hide there”.
Witnesses added that clashes erupted across many parts of Pulwama in protest against the killing.
The search operation near the encounter site in Pulwama district of south Kashmir concluded on Friday as the accomplices of the slain Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant managed to escape.
This entire area falls in “high-security zone” as the camps of 50 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF’s 183 Battalion, besides the residence of a senior Congress leader, are located here. “He is still fighting but we have closed all the escape routes”, he said.
