Purdue football players random act of kindness goes viral
When Megan Shufflebarger brought her two-year-old daughter Kinley to an Indiana Target on October 22, she knew that Kinley would be excited about picking a doll for her birthday.
Shufflebarger repeated the story for her hundreds of friends on Facebook, sharing a photo of the young man posing with Kinley, who had a “sweet little shocked smile” on her face. When she asked him point-blank why he took the time, and money, to brighten Kinley’s day, the mother says, “He said, ‘That’s just who I am.’ He likes to randomly give things to people and do good things”. He then handed Kinley the doll and wished her a happy birthday.
Minutes later, Fuller came back with the doll in a bag and a receipt.
More than 50,000 shares later, someone recognized Kinley’s hero.
“I thought it was odd at first but was quickly distracted with more [of Kinley’s] oohing and ahhing”, the mom wrote on Facebook.
“Seriously. What a reminder to never loose faith in humanity and to be generous and pay it forward”, she added. “He asked her which one she picked out and she showed him and said “yeah and I really lub dis one”. (Yahoo Parenting wasn’t able to reach Fuller for comment).
The mom also said the young man had taught her family an important lesson. She was shopping for prospective birthday gifts with her mom.
The mother posted a photo of the anonymous man and her daughter to Facebook, saying her heart was “about to explode”.
Even Fuller’s college noticed the viral photo, Purdue Athletics shared the photo on their page, adding, “We couldn’t be more proud of the type of young men and women in our athletics department”.
