Putin to Meet With Iran Leadership at Gas Summit in Tehran
Speaking at the third summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) on Monday, Abdalla Salem el-Badri deemed natural gas as a factor of stability in different parts of the world adding “along with the increase in the world’s population, demands for energy consumptions are increasing in many countries as well”.
The Deputy President of Iran, Shariat Madri, received President Buhari at the Mehrabad global Airport.
At the GECF ministerial summit in Tehran, the meeting’s president Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu – Nigeria’s minister of state for oil – also urged members to enhance their mutual work in a bid to promote gas across the world.

Kachikwu, who is also the President of GECF said that volatility had brought much uncertainty and instability to the market while affecting decisions on investment for long term supply of gas.
During his two-day visit President Buhari is expected to speak with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will meet with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin Monday in Tehran, Iran to discuss the stabilization of the price of oil, a critical export and important source of revenue for both countries.
GECF members account for 42 per cent of global gas output, 70 per cent of global gas reserves, 40 per cent of pipe gas transmission, and 65 per cent of global trade of Liquefied Natural Gas.
Besides HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, the meeting was attended by ministers from Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, UAE and Venezuela as well as Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman and Peru as observers.
“12 member states and 6 observer states participated in this Summit and it was decided that the Republic of Azerbaijan be added to the observer states”, Rouhani reiterated.
