PwC apologises to Hollywood after Oscars blunder
The Oscars is taking definitive action against the two PricewaterhouseCooper accountants at the center of Sunday’s best picture debacle.
The fallout continues after the astounding movie mix-up at this year’s Oscars on ABC. On Sunday night, La La Land was accidentally named as the Best Picture victor before producers alerted everyone onstage that a mistake had been named and Moonlight was the victor.
PwC accountants Brian Cullinan and Martha Ruiz have been permanently removed from all film academy dealings, sources told the Los Angeles Times and CNN.
Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway accidentally awarded the Best Picture Oscar to “La La Land” instead of “Moonlight”, and everyone lost their minds.
“We lost, by the way”, one of the producers said into the microphone before trailing off, amid growing confusion on the stage and in the audience.

Thankfully the proper card was released and the award went into the hands of the “Moonlight” cast, producers and directors.
“I’ve been saying that (co-writer) Tarell (Alvin McCraney) and I are that kid in the film, and that kid does not grow up to make a piece of art that gets eight Academy Award nominations”, Jenkins said.
“I looked out and I saw a member of Pricewaterhouse coming on the stage, and I was, like, Oh, no, what-what’s happening?” said Boone Issacs.
PwC admitted that Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway were handed the wrong envelope.
Mass pandemonium erupted after the error was revealed, with La La Land actors and Moonlight stars mingling on stage together as they waited for some kind of clarification.
Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel said afterwards: “He was confused because the card, which he showed to me by the way, said “Emma Stone, La La Land” on it”.
Horowitz, 36, took charge of the moment after giving his victory speech when his film “La La Land” was first announced as the victor in the Best Picture category at the end of the night. I’m hard pressed to think of a bigger screw-up in awards history, even after the great Steve Harvey flub of 2016.
