Qatar Airways jets into Adelaide
Qatar Airways Cargo, the world’s fifth largest cargo carrier, serves more than 40 exclusive freighter destinations worldwide via its Doha hub and also delivers freight to more than 150 key business and leisure destinations globally on 166 aircraft.
Mr Bignell said the State Government had not directly paid Qatar Airways to bring the flights to Adelaide, but would not discuss details of the deal.
The A380 aircraft feature a tri-class configuration of First, Business and Economy Class seating over two decks, invented to offer the airline’s signature service with outstanding in-flight entertainment and service on board.
Airways will begin daily direct flights into Adelaide from May next year.
Once the Adelaide route is up and running, Qatar Airways will be operating 28 weekly flights to four Australian cities (Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Adelaide). The reciprocal will take off from Adelaide in the evening, arriving at Doha in the early morning the next day.
The airline’s statement announcing the expansion referred to Adelaide as “the cosmopolitan coastal capital of South Australia” and “home to renowned museums such as the Art Gallery of South Australia, displaying expansive collections including noted indigenous art, and the South Australian Museum, devoted to natural history”.
Qatar Airways’ A350 features the state-of-the art Oryx entertainment system, with up to 2,000 entertainment options on individual screens in all classes.

Since the beginning of the year, Qatar Airways has begun services to Amsterdam (The Netherlands); Zanzibar (Tanzania); Faisalabad, Sialkot and Multan in Pakistan, and Abha (Saudi Arabia). In 2016, Qatar Airways is also launching flights to three new USA destinations – Los Angeles, Boston and Atlanta.
