QB Jones injures hamstring at combine
INDIANAPOLIS Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones appeared to pull his hamstring during his second 40-yard dash Saturday at the NFL Scouting Combine and was forced to withdraw from drills at Lucas Oil Stadium before the throwing portion began.
Jones, who was demoted from his starting role in the middle of his senior season, will now be counting on a strong pro day performance to showcase his ability to National Football League scouts. On his first 40 attempt, Jones ran an unofficial 4.83. His second attempt was unofficially clocked at 4.85 seconds.
Jones had been scheduled to throw in the second group of quarterbacks, but told the NFL Network he would not participate due to the undisclosed injury.

Earlier in the workout, Jones turned in a 36-inch vertical jump. If he’s done for the combine, he’ll need to come through at Ohio State’s Pro Day on March 11. Meyer told the NFL Network he thought Saturday “is going to be [Jones’] day”. But I think hell have a great showing, and I think this is going to be his day.
The injury doesn’t seem too severe, and Jones is expected to recover within two weeks.
Jones stepped in for the injured J.T. Barrett in the MI game at the end of the 2014 season, and after finishing off the rivalry game with a victory, he led the Buckeyes to a 59-0 win over the Wisconsin Badgers in the 2014 Big Ten Championship Game in Indianapolis.
