QPR close in on Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink to fill vacant manager’s job
The Dutchman has been linked with taking charge at Loftus Road after leading the Brewers out of League Two last season, then taking them on to their current position in the League One playoffs in the club’s first season at that level.
“QPR have approached us asking for permission to speak to Jimmy and we have agreed to that”.
The Queens Park Rangers fans in The Transfer Tavern are hopeful that the club can secure the services of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink imminently.
QPR will step up their move for Hasselbaink in the next 48 hours after experiencing frustration in the search for a successor to Ramsey, who was dismissed on November 4. “He will be interviewed shortly for the vacant manager’s job”, Burton chairman Ben Robinson told the club’s official website.
He was previously manager of Belgian side Royal Antwerp and also spent time on the coaching staff at Nottingham Forest before joining Albion.
In his 54 league games in charge, his side have won 33 times, drawing 11 and losing just 10 matches.
“They can speculate, but I can’t stop people doing that or control that”, Hasselbaink said when asked about the speculation by BBC Radio Derby.
The Brewers recorded a 2-1 victory over Millwall at the Pirelli Stadium last night to take their place at the summit.
The 43-year-old Hasselbaink was a Netherlands worldwide forward during his playing career and represented Leeds, Chelsea and Middlesbrough among others.
