QPR in talks with Ream after offer is accepted by Bolton
Bolton Wanderers have rejected offers from Queens Park Rangers and Fulham for the United States global Tim Ream.
In a country where Geoff Cameron is the only starting player not wearing gloves, Ream’s move to a starting role for a team that could advance just might make the “small” £1.4 million worth it.
Ream has been a target of QPR throughout the transfer window, but could not agree a fee for the 27 year old. “Bolton_Wanderers_confirm_new_three_year_deal_for_USMNT_defender_Tim_Ream/” >a new deal in 2014), so his club should be under no particular pressure to sell – other than the pressure that comes with harboring a player coveted by other teams, and every club’s need to maximize its resources. Clearly, Bolton’s valuation is higher.
Ream has won Bolton’s Player of the Year award for each of the last two seasons but while Lennon is keen to keep the American, he revealed he has considered possible successors.
“I think a fee has been agreed for Tim but I don’t know if it’s gone through yet, or not”, he told The Bolton News.
“You always make contingency plans”, he said. We feel if we can get a couple of players in in certain areas it will improve the squad.
“He (Ream) is a good player and he’s been very consistent for us”.
Bolton boss Neil Lennon admitted it had become a two-way battle for Ream, and one in which he vowed to win. But with Fulham sitting a mere notch up from Bolton at 17th, QPR, who were only just relegated from the English Premier League, would seem the more attractive option.
