Quake scale: Ohio St win vs Michigan rocked stadium the most

Penn State and Wisconsin, who face each other in the Big Ten Championship game on Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, are two of four Big Ten squads represented in this edition of the College Football Playoff rankings.

The positioning is relevant because it shows the faith the committee has in the Wolverines for when the final rankings are revealed on Sunday.

The Big Ten reprimanded Jim Harbaugh Monday for ripping officials after Michigan’s epic loss to Ohio State. With an outside shot of making the playoff is No. 5 MI and No. 6 Wisconsin. This Saturday, Washington will play No. 8 Colorado in the Pac-12 Championship.

It will be tough decision for the committee to make, but there is no reason why Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes should be left out of the College Football Playoff this season, no matter what happens this weekend. Ohio State is going to break that mold this year, potentially opening the door for another team do to so as well.

Penn State fans, however, are already cranking up the complaints. That means MI can make the playoff if either Clemson or Washington loses.

Even then, there was no guarantee that the Sooners would vault above MI or the loser of the Big Ten championship between Wisconsin and Penn State.

Washington rounds out the playoff spots in No. 4.

Louisville beat Florida State by 43 points in September, but the Cardinals have stumbled down the stretch and now the Seminoles are 12th and the Cardinal are 13th.

The College Football Playoff committee is still impressed with MI.

Western Michigan will also be looking for their first MAC title after a 16-year absence in making the championship game.
