The step raises were not granted in 2017-18. That amount reflects a “minor” change in a PILOT agreement or else the tax levy would not have increased at all, Superintendent Roberto Padilla told the board.

Bauman was one of 25 applicants pining for the position of superintendent following a search conducted by the Missouri School Board Association, according to an Ozark School District news release.
“I made my decision on what is best for me and my family”, he said. “This being my first year on the board, I wanted to do everything I could to ensure a slower and steadier rate of increase in the yearly budget”.
“We’re looking at using $3.7 million from our reserves, particularly $2.7 million from the unreserved fund balance”, Magara explained.
Some of the 10 criteria the charter school has to fulfill for its application to the Charter School Division of the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education include family and community involvement, meeting the needs of diverse learners, and organizational viability, Horgan said.

Last May, the state sued two former Superintendent William Pfister and Assistant Superintendent Richard Sopko to repay almost $850,000 in salary and annuity payments it said both improperly collected over 15 years – with some early payments dating back to 1999.
However, its overall state aid dropped by $1 million, because the district just completed an infrastructure project and is now undertaking its new Legacy 2020 project.

The property tax is funding about 54 percent of the budget. The Board approved the budget following the public hearing.
Mayewood will consolidate into R.E. Davis Elementary as a K-8 magnet school, and F.J. DeLaine will consolidate into Cherryvale Elementary as a combined K-5 elementary school.
