Quentin Tarantino receives his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
The legendary film director – whose credits include Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dog and Django Unchained – was joined by some of the cast of his latest movie The Hateful Eight, including his long-time friend and collaborator Samuel L. Jackson, for the ceremony in Hollywood, California.
The Hateful Eight, has already earned a Golden Globe nomination ahead of its US Christmas release.
“I was expecting to go a little bit more down by Cherokee or Bronson and when they said ‘No it’s going to be right underneath that Chinese Marquis – that one right there”.
Samuel Jackson who frequently works with Tarantino spoke a few words about his work.
“Knowing what kind of cinephile he is, the reverence he holds for these names, I was very, very proud the day I got my star and I know what it means to him, cause of what he thinks and how he reveres this business and the art of filmmaking”, he told the crowd.
Jackson, star of many Tarantino movies, introduced the writer-director as an artist without heavy hands: “He’s all about making films that make you happy”, Jackson said.
Tarantino found himself on the receiving end of calls for boycotts from the NYPD, LAPD, Philadelphia PD, and the National Association of Police Organizations after his remarks at an anti-police rally in New York City on October 24.
According to that review, The Hateful Eight is a combination “classic Western, a Miss Marple mystery” with “gobs of gore” and that the movie is weird, wild and way too long.
