Race isn’t the reason people don’t like Cam Newton, says former Bronco
The Carolina Panthers have crafted a defiant identity on their way to Super Bowl 50, full of players who have grown justifiably boastful and stingy with compliments toward others. But younger brother Eli says Peyton doesn’t need another Super Bowl win to cement his legacy, via the Sydney Morning Herald.
For 50 years, they have come from almost 400 colleges (393 to be exact) to play in the Super Bowl.
Manning didn’t want to talk about the eavesdropped exchange on Thursday, however. Westgate tops all Las Vegas sportsbook with the highest opening line for Carolina at -5.5, while most others have them favored anywhere from 3.5 to 4.5 points.
Aside from just Wilson though, we can’t overlook Matt Ryan topping 300 yards in Carolina’s lone loss, and Eli Manning throwing for 245 yards and four touchdowns just before that this season.
His brother, Eli, who is not considered as talented of a quarterback, already has two Super Bowl rings to his name, and he earned both of them against Brady and the Patriots, Peyton’s rival, according to ESPN.
A neck injury and subsequent surgeries cost Manning a season in 2011 and ended his time with the Colts after 14 seasons.
“I’m a firm believer if you don’t like it, keep me out” of the end zone, Newton said after the game.
Although, if Tolbert doesn’t feel Manning is entitled to a title (see what I did just there?) in his last season (we presume) then why would the Broncos feel like it’s the Panthers’ turn?
Panthers coach Ron Rivera was asked if he thought America might be rooting for Manning. If this does happen to be it, I hope he goes out on top with another Superbowl win. Former Giants quarterback Phil Simms is calling the Super Bowl for CBS.
With a full 10 days, and at least three more media sessions left for Manning until the Super Bowl, it’s certain this won’t be the last of the questions he faces on the topic, as he prepares for what could be his last game.
Roby began his National Football League career by declaring “I’m not a bad guy”.
Rivera praised his coaching staff, but said the players are the main reason the team has been ready to go on game day. The game has changed. He faced Manning twice previous year while with the Kansas City Chiefs and views Manning as able as ever. If I can get the ball from him – if he throws an interception and God allows me to be there – I’ll bow to him.
