Radamel Falcao: Chelsea can turn season around
Radamel Falcao is confident Jose Mourinho will improve Chelsea – and is also confident his own form can turn round at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have endured a disastrous opening few weeks of the new campaign and suffered their fifth defeat of the season as they slumped to a 3-1 loss to Southampton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
That match was one of many this season where Falcao has been sent on in the second half to save the game and he has now joined up with country looking for a rare start. “When you concede goals sometimes the other team do a good job but sometimes we make mistakes”, he said. However, it seems as though his cruciate ligament injury which kept him out of the World Cup has had a huge impact on him as a player and it is unlikely that we will see the Falcao of old ever again.
“I’m OK. Growing up, every day I feel better”, Colombian global Falcao said on Monday.
And Colombia coach Jose Pekerman says he will get exactly that as they face Peru on Thursday night and then Uruguay next Tuesday.
Despite having the funds available to strengthen his team if needed, Mourinho felt he already had a squad of star – and crucially, in-form – players required for the Blues to defend their league title this term as well as go further in the Champions League this season.
“They are strong defensively, and have a great goalkeeper with great forwards and are a very compact team”.
