RadioShack hires Nick Cannon as chief creative officer
He will also help “further transform the retailer into the must-visit electronics destination, from curating the music selection to performances and events”.
Cannon’s new appointment comes in addition to his position as chairman of TeenNick for Nickelodeon and founder of production agency, Ncredible Entertainment.
In a freakish twist of fate, RadioShack today announced that it has enlisted Nick Cannon as Chief Creative Officer in an effort to help boost the company’s image and kick off a new wave of advertisements.
RadioShack said in the press release that as CCO, Cannon will have an active role in the development of RadioShack-exclusive products. The line consists of items meant to foster learning in science, technology, engineering and math.
Earlier this year, RadioShack declared bankruptcy and had thousands of stores closed.
Cannon, who will work out of RadioShack’s headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, said he was eager to join the company. “As a kid, spending time in my neighborhood RadioShack was invaluable”. Most of those that remain open now share space with Sprint (S). Since the retailer has helped him learn, he wants to give back be helping other kids learn and move to a higher notch by being RadioShack’s Chief Creative Officer.
Cannon, who is best known as host of America’s Got Talent and for his marriage and recent divorce from Mariah Carey, said that he became acquainted with RadioShack as an 8-year-old who inherited his grandfather’s stereo.
By getting the “Wild N Out” star onto the board, RadioShack can say that they’re back in business.
