Rahman inspired by Chelsea’s African past
The Daily Mail reported that Rahman is waiting for the confirmation of a $21.7 million deal.
New Chelsea signing Baba Rahman is aiming to win trophies with the Premier League champions after finally completing his big money move from FC Augsburg.
Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has joined the list of people who have been commenting on the transfer of Abdul Rahman Baba from Augsburg to Chelsea.
Rahman is confident he has the tools to be a success in the Premier League when he gets his opportunity. The 21-year-old sat down with the official Chelsea website to discuss the move and outline his targets for the campaign.
“For me, last season was absolutely wonderful”.
Baba becomes the third Ghanaian player to work under Mourinho after Essien at Chelsea and Real Madrid, and Sulley Muntari at Inter Milan.
Rahman said he is looking forward to working with Mourinho.
“I want to thank the fans for their great support and wish the entire team all the best”.
“I’m a left-back and, as a defender, it’s important for me to be strong in the tackle, which I always try to be”, he added. “At the same time, Azpilicueta can compete with [Branislav] Ivanovic for the right-back position, so he replaces Filipe Luis in the balance of the squad”, Mourinho said, according to BBC Sports.
Rahman, who arrived at Cobham on Tuesday afternoon after getting all his paperwork sorted, will be hoping to link up with the first-team for their upcoming league game with West Bromwich Albion this weekend.
