Rahul Gandhi Dedicates Engineering college at Massal in Nagrota
Even though a few important Opposition parties gave the press conference a miss, the leaders present – particularly West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi – spared no effort in hauling the government over the coals. “A new black market has emerged to convert black money into white”, Gandhi said at a press conference that was also attended by other opposition parties like the Trinamool Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal. “From January 1 to January 10, the party will organise street meetings and protest rallies across the state to demand the end to common people’s hardships and harassment due to demonetisation decision”, a statement issued at the conclusion of two-day meeting said. “Those who were claiming support of 16 parties could only manage to bring eight and soon they would reduce to four, ” Mr Prasad said while taking a dig on the opposition’s meeting. Then Rahul Gandhi will be left on his own… to hurl abuses without substance. “Modiji, you had said that after 50 days things will be alright”. Prime Minister will have to resign.
“Unity is a process, it will go forward”, he said, choosing to invest in potential allies and ignoring the unease within the Congress over the absence of some of these parties and its possible impact on the fight against the government.
The idea was to gherao the government a day ahead of the 50th day deadline set by prime minister Narendra Modi himself. “It has failed… it is a failed experiment”, he said. “Even LK Advani resigned”. Previously they used to blame BJP party but now they are totally focusing on Modi. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee said that the Prime Minister had taken back the country 20 years back and imposed “super emergency”. He said the court has not given any judgment on the Sahara-Birla papers case, arguing that there is a difference between judgment and observation.
“As the prime minister, he should have been the first person to ask for a probe against any allegations against him”.
Gandhi and Banerjee also announced they would sketch an agenda to take on Modi over the scrapping of Rs 1000 and Rs 500 banknotes. Modi had said the good days will come.
“Why is there no investigation against “Sahara diaries” and emails addressed directly to the then Gujarat chief minister?”, Rahul Gandhi asked the Prime Minister. Is this the way to run the country? Has he forgotten how scam after scam broke out during Manmohan Singh’s government?
