Rahul Gandhi has a Lalit Modi fixation ?
The Congress, supported by some opposition parties, has been demanding the resignation of Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje on their alleged help to Lalit Modi and Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the Vyapam scam. The Congress Vice President attacked Swaraj for being “secretly” kind and charitable to Lalit Modi, whom he called a “criminal”. But what we have seen from day one of the monsoon session of Parliament is disruption over non-issues and without any logic.
TMC has taken a decision in the “best interest of Parliamentary democracy” and has stayed away from the House, despite burning issues facing West Bengal like the worst flood situation and issues along the global borders, he said.
“Congress has abdicated the duties of causing helpful opposition and consequently is utilizing its geometric capability in Parliament, especially in Rajya Sabha, in order to attain an unfavorable approach”.
“Please explain to the country and the people of India, how much money of Lalit Modi has come into your bank account and that of your family. The financial transactions between Lalit Modi and Sushma’s family must be made public”, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said.
The BJP today ridiculed the Congress allegations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was being “soft” on tainted cricket boss Lalit Modi, who is wanted in India in corruption cases related to the Indian Premier League or IPL that he launched.
Even Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, on Sonia’s insistence, asked his MPs to boycott the House.
“Now people are feeling that while in power, they (Congress) neglected development and while in opposition they are obstructing (economic) growth”, Naidu told reporters here.
Its two most important bills- the Constitution amendment bill on the goods and services tax (GST) and the land acquisition law amendments-were not even tabled during the session which started on 21 July, dealing a setback to the government. The all party meeting is scheduled to take place in Parliament at 12 pm. I hope Congress understands its responsibility.
As 25 Congress members returned to the house after remaining suspended for five days, disruptions in proceedings of the lower house, as had happened last week, were witnessed.
