Rahul ‘principal misleader’ of Indian politics: BJP
No citizen of the country can accept the anti-national slogans that advocate terrorists at a prestigious university like the JNU. To top it, the statements given by Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders in JNU amply demonstrates, yet again, that they have neither regard nor love for the nation or its interests. “If Rahul Gandhi, who is called the “Rajkumar” of Congress, goes and sides with these people, stands with them and supports them then it is treason”, Mr Choudhary said in his constituency.
Rahul had visited JNU on Saturday and extended support to the students’ cause.
Following this, Allahabad High Court has ordered to file a sedition case against Gandhi in link with supporting “anti-national” activities. He was strongly criticised by BJP president Amit Shah for siding with the “anti-national” elements.
On their part, the JNU students stepped up their agitation by boycotting classes demanding unconditional release of students union president Kanhaiya Kumar.
The memorandum accused the BJP-led central government of lending tacit support to hoodlums.
Exhorting the locals to teach the BJP and other political parties a lesson in the coming Assembly polls in UP, Gandhi said that it was unfortunate that politics was being done on development issue.
He slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying he has failed to fulfill his promises.
The crackdown on JNU, the arrest of student leader Kanhaiya Kumar and the slapping of sedition charges worryingly reflect a state that is willing to clamp down on democratic values in defence of a nationalism that it alone defines.
Karat said said ever since the Modi Government came to power, universities across the country have been under siege and there have been constant attempts to “impose ideological hegemony” on universities. We want to ask Rahul Gandhi, is he with those people who want to do partition of the country, not once but many times? “I have seen my family sacrifice for the nation again and again”.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Sadhvi Prachi, who talked to the media at the university gate, said Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi should tell the nation the definition of nationalism.
Gandhi alleged Rohith Vemula was “crushed” by the Government because he expressed himself and “that is happening in every single University”.
“I want to ask Rahul Gandhi: Had it been in national interest if the government didn’t act and remained silent?”
