Raiders agree to 4-year extension with Crabtree
In the 2009 draft, the Raiders passed on receiver Michael Crabtree.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Crabtree will receive $19 million in guaranteed money. I may be mis-remembering, but didn’t a dropped pass prevent a first down for us when we could’ve ran out the clock (and possibly get a TD) when we had to settle for Jano’s three-points? The Oakland Raiders offense looks like it’s going to be a force to be reckoned with over the next few years. “I’m a Raider.” ESPN first reported the deal.
With four games still to play this season, Crabtree has 760 yards and seven touchdowns on a team-high 66 receptions.
Equally as important as his production on the field has been Crabtree’s impact inside the Raiders locker room.
“This is where I belong…” He has had a resurgent season with the Raiders and many thought he would wait and test the free agent market before deciding on whether or not to re-sign with the Raiders.
“You try not to prejudge people”.
“To do it in a place like the Black Hole where I spent a lot of my career”, Branch said, “it’s definitely a good feeling”. “We ask them to be great teammates”.
Crabtree, 28, signed a one-year, $3.2 million deal with the Raiders in the spring after the San Francisco 49ers cut him. “I think everybody in here would say the same thing”. “That’s not the way you close out a game you want to win”.
Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie spoke in October about the way Cooper and Crabtree are able to push each other. Expect for him to quickly revert to his previous form.
Jeremy Maclin had two touchdowns catches after fourth-quarter interceptions and Tyvon Branch returned a third interception from Derek Carr for a game-clinching score against his former team and the Kansas City Chiefs rallied for their sixth straight win, 34-20 over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. Running back Latavius Murray also leads the AFC with 851 yards.
“While we have not yet engaged in any specific discussions, we will certainly keep this in mind as we evaluate the options and tools for getting to a responsible proposal that works for all the stakeholders”, she said.
The bottom line is this: the Raiders have to feel good about their starting outside receivers for the foreseeable future. We’re a damn sight better than the putrid teams of last year and the year before and obviously the past 12 years or so, but we still have a bit of growing to do as we learn to beat the teams we should beat… and occasionally beat teams we need to UPSET. In 2013, his coverage of the Seattle Seahawks ended in heartbreak when they defeated the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl. “That way we can just go play football”.
Notes: Hudson (ankle) practiced for the first time in almost two weeks and took reps with the first-term offense.
