Raiders edge Chargers in possible Oakland farewell

It’s going to be an emotional night between the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers in Oakland. I wanted them to get a win for the team, and we got that. Raiders owner Mark Davis and Chargers owner Dean Spanos are seeking to partner on building a stadium in Carson.

The Rams are looking to build their stadium in Inglewood, near Los Angeles International Airport. His season & his 18-year profession are virtually over as well, so the Raiders sent him off in a heroic fashion throughout his last home game.

San Diego (4-10) is also in consideration as a potential Los Angeles team as early as next season.

The Raiders took the opening kick in overtime and appeared ready to self-destruct, drawing three costly penalties. Second-year quarterback Derek Carr expressed his appreciation for Woodson, even though they play on opposite sides of the field.

But the game officially ended on 4th and 3 in the first overtime, when Rivers threw an incomplete pass near the right sideline. He also scored on a 22-yard run.

Carr finished 23-of-38 for 204 yards and a TD. He caught 11 passes in their last meeting for 75 yards and two touchdowns in that game. He’ll be a low-end WR3 against the Chiefs in Week 17. Oakland defensive end Benson Mayowa recovered the ball and rumbled 40 yards to the San Diego 3-yard line. Crabtree has been making extremely few plays the past six weeks. But that was plenty of time for the Chargers and quarterback Philip Rivers to move downfield, and Josh Lambo’s 45-yard field goal with 55 seconds left forced overtime.

The Raiders won the toss and took the ball down the field, settling for a Sebastian Janikowski 31-yard field goal. Murray has 956 yards and needs just 44 to be the first Oakland player to hit that milestone since Darren McFadden in 2010. It was an end around and he was tackled for a 3-yard loss. But upon review, the touchdown was overturned and the Chargers had to settle for a 48-yard field goal try from Lambo, which of course he missed to keep the lead at just 17-12. Derek Carr failed to complete 50 percent of his passes for the second straight game and had an interception returned for a touchdown, but he tossed a pair of scoring strikes to rookie Amari Cooper, who went over 1,000 yards one week after being held without a catch.
