Raiders’ Reece suspended four games for use of performance enhancers
Oakland Raiders’s Marcel Reece, RB, has been suspended by the Commissioner for the next four regular or post season games for violating the National Football League policy on performance enhancing substances, the team said in a statement Monday. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Monday his season just ended on a 4-game suspension. Reece can serve the first game of the ban in Week 17. Reece, would have played in his 4th-straight Pro Bowl if he hadn’t come up with he positive test. Reece will be allowed to join his teammates in all offseason practices and preseason games. “I think there’s room there for something to be done that maybe would be more fair and just”. Reece, 30, has touched the ball 40 times this year, amassing 305 all-purpose yards with three touchdowns.
Jack Del Rio flat out stated that Marcel Reese was “not a major part of what we do”. “He’s a part of what we do, but it’s not like we’re taking out 50 or 60 or 70 percent of our offense when we remove him….” Three other Raiders players were named alternates. We’ll get the next guy up and ready to roll. He’ll have to miss the first three games of the 2016 season.
Not only have the Oakland Raiders started giving more of his carries to Jamize Olawale, but the National Football League in general has been using the fullback position less frequently over the years. The Raider have already signed him to extension so it could be the end for Reece as a Raider.
