The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) had on December 9 questioned Rajendra Kumar in connection with alleged irregularities in conducting fitness tests for commercial vehicles.
“After a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues and senior AAP leaders that lasted around two hours, Kejriwal said the Centre will not be able to scare him and that he will continue to fight till his last breath”.
“Under his long presidency of the cricket board, there has been huge corruption in it. I ordered an inquiry, the report of which was in my office and CBI came to lay its hands on it”.
Kejriwal also demanded to know why ministers in the previous Congress government and other officers who also signed the supposedly corrupt contracts approved by Kumar were not raided.
The CBI spokesperson had earlier said that documents related to three immovable properties along with cash were recovered from the residence of Rajendra Kumar, principal secretary to the Delhi chief minister.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Twitter that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had raided his office on Tuesday morning.
“Rajendra (Kumar) is an excuse, Kejriwal is the target”, he said, referring to the Chief Minister’s principal secretary who, the CBI alleged, was involved in corruption. Foreign currency of the value of Rs 3 lakh was also recovered from the residence of Kumar, CBI sources said. His office in the Delhi Secretariat was raided following complaints made to CBI that certain private companies received benefits from the departments where he was posted over the past few years.
“Jaitley lied in Parliament. It should be conducted in such a way so that the relation is not strained”, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi told media here.
However, Mr Kejriwal has accused the CBI of “lying”.
