Rajya Sabha proceedings repeatedly disrupted
Rejecting the opposition’s charge the government had not reached out to them, Naidu said he had called a meeting of various parties on Friday morning as well but Congress backed out at the last moment and added that he was looking to call a meeting on Monday.
The minister also sought to drive a wedge in the Opposition unity by claiming that while Congress is disrupting Parliamentary proceedings other Opposition parties are looking forward to a debate on important issues in the House. The government has rejected the opposition’s demand.
Sitharaman said the Congress was scared of the good performance during the previous parliament session (Budget session) when productivity of both houses was recorded above 100 percent.
This came even as Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh making a statement on the Gurdaspur terror attack in the Lok Sabha, broke the peace, with a remark against the Congress for the alleged use of the term “Hindu terror”. “Are your afraid whenever he talks, it appeals to the people of this country?” said Nirmala Sitharaman.
“It (the three BJP leaders’ fate) should be on the agenda for the discussions”, Azad has said. “Therefore, now it is about time that parliament is allowed to function”.
Kharge, who was accompanied by leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party and the Aam Aadmi Party, said: “They (government) are not taking an initiative. In the interest of the country, the Congress should cooperate in (normal) functioning of parliament”, he said. Nothing illegal, nothing immoral has been done by any of our ministers.
“But, first let me understand what is it they want the Prime Minister to intervene. Because on such issues which are sensitive and security related and which are country’s unity related, we must have a frank discussion, we must speak in one voice and we must convey to the worldwide community that our neighbour (Pakistan) is trying to aid, abet, fund, train terrorists and then the focus should be on terrorism”, Naidu said. Stating that the scam took place when medical education department was headed by Chouhan, Scindia said it has dented the image of Madhya Pradesh at the worldwide level.
“We have not raised the issues…”
Referring to LK Advani’s statement that the saffron party should remain a party of values and principles, Scindia said the BJP patriarch himself had set an example earlier by resigning on moral grounds.
There are issues like price rise and hostages in Libya and people of those areas (representatives) are very much concerned and they want to raise those issue in Parliament, Naidu pointed out.
