Ralkina Jones: Woman filmed chillingly predicting her own death in police
Her initial autopsy revealed “no suspicious injuries”, and Cuyahoga County medical examiners are still investigating her exact cause of death, police say.
After Ralkina Jones was found dead in her cell, her family has released a statement saying they “do not fully understand all of the facts and circumstances surrounding her death but look forward to the results of the pending investigations”.
A woman with a wide range of medical problems who was arrested last month for domestic violence, only to be mysteriously found dead in her cell, told jailers, “I don’t want to die in your cell” while she was being booked. “So, she had several medications that basically work on the serotonin receptors in the brain and if you take multiple medications that stimulate serotonin in the brain, that can cause overstimulation and what we call serotonin syndrome – it’s a possibility”, she said.
The next morning at 7:30 a.m., the jail administrator found Jones unresponsive in the bed of her cell.
The officers in the video were cooperative and friendly with Jones. Medical staff at HealthSpan evaluated and released her, according to cops. But he said her current cell was better situated for jail personnel to monitor her health.
“All I be wanting is somebody to be honest with me the entire time, instead of a different shift coming on and being mean to me”, she said. According to police, Jones seemed lethargic and was taken to the emergency room of a local hospital for evaluation on Friday.
When Jones complained that her worries had been dismissed by another officer, who apparently yelled at her, one officer said, “I sympathize with you”.
In a discussion with jail officials hours before her death, Jones explained that she needed her medication to be properly administered.
“She was a human”. They initially expressed frustration toward police, who they said were releasing few details about Jones’ death. She was a mother, a sister, a daughter, a cousin, a great mother, a great sister.
Cleveland Heights police say Jones attacked her ex-husband outside of a Save-A-Lot.
But Ms Jones’ family is outraged and want to know why she deteriorated so quickly when she left home fit and well. Regina Samuels, Jones’s sister, told Cleveland.com that she had visited Jones in prison the day after she was arrested and she appeared to be fine.
